Mickie James, former five-time WWE women’s champion, returned to WWE in the NXT Takeover: Toronto Live. She featured in a match up against the current NXT Women’s champion Asuka.
The fact is she’s still incredibly fit and wresting all over the world has raised a question amongst the WWE fans, what’s going to be her future in the company now. The head of the NXT division Triple H said in a recent interview, “Her future lies in her own hand.”
@BeckyLynchWWE would you like to defend your title against @MickieJames someday? That would be a total dream match ??

Furthermore, Mickie herself said in a recent interview she would like to join the main roster of WWE in near future. This further fuelled up the speculation of her joining the Smackdown Live. In a recent twitter conversation, Becky Lynch, Smackdown women’s champion, was asked by a fan if she’ll like to defend her title against Mickie James and she came up with an affirmative answer.
The scenario is ideal for her to join the blue brand since there is a lack of depth in roster. Once, the TLC PPV gets over, Becky will need a new opponent and who would be a better option than Mickie.
Dave Meltzer said the following scenario should be the best for the returning one, “[Mickie James] is certainly good enough to be on the main roster, and it’s not like SmackDown couldn’t use another experienced woman, especially with Carmella and Alexa Bliss and everyone there. They could use another babyface that’s got a lot of experience. She’s a lot more experienced than all of them, except for Natalya.”
It looks like that Mickie’s future in WWE lies in her own hands. Rumors also suggest she might up end up being a trainer at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
