It was a massive boost for Arsenal fans to see Hector Bellerin sign a new contract extension in November.
Since breaking into the side back in 2013, the Spanish youngster has made a huge impression and many are already tipping him to become one of their best players for years to come.
The 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the past three years, and a recently emerged stat has shown just how important he is to the side already.
Bellerin was brought ahead in his development to replace France international Bacary Sagna, who had made the controversial move to Manchester City that summer.
Many bemoaned Sagna’s decision to leave for the Etihad, but while he has struggled to recapture his best form in the Northwest, Bellerin has proved that they needn’t have worried in the first place.
They needn’t have worried to the point that Bellerin, in three years, has already recorded more assists for the club than Sagna could manage in seven years!
Bellerin now has 12 assists to his name, while Sagna had 11.

While full-backs aren’t expected to be assist machines, the nature of their position now requires them to get forward more and provide more ammunition for their attackers.
And if there’s one thing Bellerin is good at it’s getting forward, as he is widely regarded as one of the fastest players in the Premier League.
But not only that, Bellerin is also already closing in on Sagna’s goal record for Arsenal.
During those same seven years the Frenchman found the net five times, and in the three Bellerin has been around the squad he has managed to score three goals.
It kind of makes you wonder if Sagna was that good after all…
