Mitchell Johnson, who retired from Test cricket just a game before the historic Pink ball Test between Australia and New Zealand, has raised questions over Day-Night Test cricket and said it’s not Test cricket and has termed it’s as a totally different game.

“I’m not really happy about it. I just don’t think it’s Test cricket. It’s a totally different game altogether. They change the wickets. Adelaide Oval in Test match cricket never has grass on it. But the two day-night Test matches that have been played there, there’s been lots of grass on it,” Johnson said.

“As a bowler, I should be happy about it. Because it definitely brings bowlers into it. But to me, it’s a change of a game. And I think it changes stats as well. So I just don’t like it,” he added.

Johnson’s comments have come after Cricket Australia and the England Cricket Board (ECB), both agreed to play a Pink ball Test match during the 2017/18 Ashes series.

Till now, there have been a total of three pink ball Test matches that have been played with the fourth one currently underway between Australia and Pakistan at Brisbane.

Mitchell Johnson was one of the fierce fast bowlers Australia has ever produced. He played a total of 73 Test matches, 153 ODIs and 30 T20Is. He recently signed a one-year contract with Perth Scorchers for the upcoming edition of Big Bash League 2016/17. Speaking about that contract and his future in the league he said, “It depends on how I go. If I get smacked around and I pull up really sore and I’m not enjoying it, then I won’t play. But if I enjoy it, you never know, it could be an option in the next couple of years.”

The Big Bash League 2016/17 starts from December 20.
