No Performance Incentive For Indian Team Due To Supreme Court Order 1
No performance incentive for Indian team due to supreme court order

The Supreme Court has passed an order that limits the BCCI’s financial freedom and power unless it complies with Lodha Panel’s recommendations as a result of which the board will not be able to provide any performance incentive to the Indian cricket team.

The BCCI has always provided the senior team and the U-19 team with incentives whenever they have performed well in bilateral series or limited-overs tournament but currently the board’s hands are tied due to the Supreme Court order.

Virat Kohli’s men that registered a handsome series win against England will now have to wait for a few more days to get richer as the BCCI needs the apex court’s permission for disbursal of any amount.

A senior office bearer quoted “Nothing can happen before Supreme Court hearing on January 3”.

The incentives for the senior men have been very high always with as much as Rs 2 crore being given in 2015 when the Indian team beat South Africa 3-0 in a four-match series. But the BCCI’s failure to obey the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Panel’s commands is the sole reason Virat Kohli’s men need to wait.

It would be interesting to see if the BCCI puts an application stating their intention to reward the team for their emphatic win over a quality side like England.

It was the supreme court that had earmarked an amount of Rs 58.66 lakh per Test match for organisation.
