With 11 back to back victories in the Premier League, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are well on their way to the Premier League title this season. The manager spent a fair amount of money in the transfer window and will be happy with the returns of his players in recent games.
And though he has been able to settle into a strong starting XI already this season, the Italian manager is now looking to add a few more players to the squad to help his side keep up the pressure at the top of the table.
A number of high profile stars have been linked with a move to the club recently with Conte ready to splash the cash and one name that is now doing the rounds is Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.
The versatile English midfielder is a utility player who already has 15 caps for the English national team at the age of 22.
He is a dynamic defensive midfielder who loves to sit back and control the game and at the Lane, he has not been able to play in his preferred position. His attributes on and off the ball have seen him act as an effective center back at the Lane this season but ever since Alderweireld is back in action, Dier has found no place in the starting XI.
Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele remain the first choice midfielders for Pochettino, leaving Dier with only a place on the bench and it is now understood that the player is growing more and more frustrated.
He has made 11 starts already this season but with Pochettino settling into a starting XI without Dier in it, the 22-year old is now afraid of his place in the national side and wants to find a place with regular football.
Pochettino will know that he is a world class player that he cannot afford to miss but if he has not place for him in his side, Dier might be sold come the end of the season.
Antonio Conte at Chelsea, is looking to add a few midfielders to his squad with the likes of Oscar, John Obi Mikel and Cesc Fabregas, all leaving the club by the end of the season.
N Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic are the first choice midfielders at the club at the moment and Conte wants Dier to replace Matic in the starting XI.
The English midfielder and his experience will surely help the Blues but it is to be seen if Pochettino is willing to let him go.
