John Cena returned to Smackdown Live after a hiatus of almost three months in the WWE. He headed straight into the main event picture by challenging the winner of the Triple Threat championship match at the main event of Smackdown. AJ Styles retained his title to set up a big match at Royal Rumble against Cena for the WWE championship, which will also mark the third singles encounter between the two of them.
In the earlier two bouts that took place at Money in the Bank and Summerslam PPVs, Styles beat Cena to take a 2-0. So, this is supposed to be the match where the franchise of the company will seek redemption. If he manages to win then he’ll also tie the record of Ric Flair’s record of 16 World championships in the sports entertainment.
However, we have got a big spoiler ahead of this big match. As per a recent advertisement, Styles will continue his hold to the WWE title even after the Royal Rumble PPV.
According to the reports of Wrestlezone.com, a live event will take place on February 4 from Smackdown brand, which is just six days after Royal Rumble. The venue of the event, Alerus Arena in Grand Forks, ND advertised the main event of the night which said AJ Styles will be defending his WWE championship against Dean Ambrose.
This came as big hint of the outcome of the mega match between Cena and Styles. Going by the advertisement posted on Facebook, the Phenomenal One will continue to be the WWE champion even after the dual brand PPV is over.
The previous speculations suggested that Cena will win the WWE championship from Styles at the Rumble event. He will go on to defend it against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33.
