WWE: Roman Reigns To Defend His US Title In A Handicap Match On Raw 1

As the New Year kick-started, it looks like the WWE is on their way back to push Roman Reigns in a similar fashion much like the last year. As reported in recent times, Vince McMahon still thinks that he is a big-time draw for the company and hence, the WWE is looking to generate sympathy for him by the audience.

So, as per the planning, they are putting him against the combined force of Jeri-KO to defend his title. As advertised by the WWE app and the WWE.com, Roman Reigns is set to compete in a United States championship match on this upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw. The site stated the following regarding the match:

“United States Champion Roman Reigns seems unstoppable lately, retaining his title against both Chris Jericho and WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens in recent weeks. However, live this Monday in New Orleans, The Big Dog will need to defend Old Glory against both Jeri-KO members simultaneously in a Handicap Match.”

Now, it’s quite understandable that the match is literally going to be a handicap one. Both Jericho and Owens will perform together to beat down Reigns so that he even can’t make it to the Royal Rumble PPV for his Universal Championship match. If the WWE indeed wants to make him the prime champion on the dual brand PPV, then it’s likely that he might lose the US title to Jericho on Raw.

However, the Big Dog of the WWE was unmoved with this announcement since he is quite familiar with such scenarios and so he posted the following on Twitter:

Since a Triple Threat match is contested under no disqualification capacity, Roman Reigns does not have to be involved in either pinfall or submission to lose the title. We can very well see either Jericho or Owens taking the pin from each other just to dethrone Reigns as the US champion.

The decision has supposedly been taken by Stephanie McMahon since Foley will not make such unfair matches. It’ll be interesting to see what Foley will have to say about this decision when Raw goes on air.
