Kiran More, the former Indian wicket-keeper batsman and chairman of selectors, has hailed M.S. Dhoni for relinquishing captaincy and has termed it as a terrific decision taken by the former Indian skipper,

“Terrific decision by (MS Dhoni). And that’s what Dhoni is, he gives surprises and he knows what is good for Indian cricket. He is a man who takes his call and takes a right call. This is a fantastic decision,” Kiran More said.

“He looks at a situation where the team should be looking forward and he reads the situation so well and thinks about the way forward and that is what he has done as a captain. Under his leadership, so many players were created,” he added.

The former Indian wicket-keeper further praised Virat Kohli for his captaincy skills saying, “Virat (Kohli) is doing very well. He is already captain of Test team and Champions trophy is coming, also there is the next World cup, so it is important to have a leader who’s leading in all formats, it makes a lot of difference.”

M.S. Dhoni stepped down from the post of captain of the limited-overs team on January 4, allowing Virat Kohli to build his own team for the World Cup 2019.

The Champions Trophy 2017 will be a test for Virat Kohli with an added pressure of being defending champions.

Kiran More also showered praises on rookie Rishabh Pant, who is a member of T20 squad to face England on January 26, “He is a fantastic cricketer, he is going to be a star cricketer in coming years. He is a great talent and he has got an opportunity to play for India now. He should grab it with both hands and it’s a learning process for Rishab Pant. And looking at the future of Indian cricket, its a great move by selectors,” he said.

Rishabh Pant was the part of India A squad for the second practice game against England at CCI stadium.

India A won the game as they chased down a total of 283 with more than 10 overs to go in the game. Pant had a crucial role to play as he played an innings of 59 off just 36 balls to back his case for a place in playing XI in the T20 series. Pant in all likeliness will bat in the top four in the T20 series.
