It is Bangladesh’s highest Test partnership for any wicket. Their previous best was 312 between Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal for the 1st wicket (against Pakistan in 2015).

Also, this mammoth partnership is the fourth highest Test partnership for the 5th wicket.

Also, this is the highest Test partnership for any wicket by the visiting team in New Zealand. The previous best was 350 runs between Asif Iqbal and Mushtaq Mohammad (Pakistan) at Dunedin in 1973.

 

  1. Bangladesh batsman Shakib Al Hasan scored 217 runs during the first innings. It is the highest individual Test score by a Bangladesh batsman. The previous best was 2016 by Tamim Iqbal against Pakistan in 2017.

 

  1. Bangladesh scored 595/8 (decl.) in their first innings which is Bangladesh’s 2nd highest Test score. Their highest Test total is 638 against Sri Lanka at Galle in 2013.

 

  1. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson (104*) scored a brilliant century in the fourth innings. Williamson became the 4th New Zealand skipper to score a century in the fourth innings of a Test match. The other three New Zealand skippers to achieve this feat was Bevan Congdon (176 against England at Nottingham in 1973), Daniel Vettori (140 against Sri Lanka at Colombo, SSC in 2009) and John Wright (117* against Australia at Wellington in 1990).

  1. Despite scoring 595 in the first innings, Bangladesh lost the Test. It is the highest first innings total by a team in a losing cause. The previous record holder was Australia with 586 runs (against England at Sydney in 1894).
