South Africa captain AB de Villiers has ruled himself out of the four-match England Test series, which is scheduled from July 6 at Lord’s.
According to reports, De Villiers has also pulled out of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will take place in September this year.
Sportzwiki has learnt that de Villiers is eyeing a Test comeback at home against India and Australia in 2018.
Earlier, the right handed batsman had already made himself unavailable for the three-match Test series against New Zealand, scheduled to take place in March.
However, the 32-year-old de Villiers has also stated that he will be featuring in Indian Premier League.
After recovering from the elbow surgery, de Villiers has now set his sights on the 2019 World Cup and he has made available himself for limited-overs cricket.
In July 2016, de Villiers injured his elbow in Carribean Premier League while playing for Barbados Tridents.
While quashing the speculations about his retirement, the wicket-keeper batsman told to South Africa radio station 702 that he’s “not retiring from the Test format”.
De Villiers has played 106 Tests for Proteas, in which he has scored 8074 runs at an average of 50.46.
