Mukul Rohtagi, the Attorney general of India, has sought a report on the order passed by Supreme Court on July 18 last year. It seeks the implementation of Lodha recommendations in total but the Attorney general, who represents Railways, Universities and Services, questioned the order of Supreme Court and asked for a review of it.
“How can three full members – Universities, Railways and Services — be relegated to associate members?” asked Rohatgi. “The three constituents have not been heard before. The order of 18th July should be recalled,” he added.
On the other side, Gopal Subramaniam, the amicus curiae in the case has also submitted a list of nine personalities to the court for the post of next boss of the BCCI. However, the names of the people have been submitted in a seal packed envelope and will not be revealed.
Reports suggests the list of people include the name of the personalities who are above the age of 70, which in itself is a breach of Lodha Recommendations. As per the recommendations, no administrator over the age of 70 can hold a post in the BCCI, a rule which looks to be breached in the list submitted by the amicus curiae and Anil Diwan.
The court is yet to announce the name of the next administrator on January 24, the date on which next hearing of the case will be conducted.
