It is not easy for a batsman for score sixes in ODIs. Doing it consistently needs some enormous power and timing. There are players who had scored over 200 sixes in ODIs. Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, whose favourite shot is “anything that goes for a six” has scored 342 sixes in 360 innings in his career that began way back in 1996.
Following Afridi are Sri Lanka’s former captain Sanath Jayasuriya who has scored 270 sixes in 433 innings and West Indian Chris Gayle, who has 209 sixes in 253 innings. The top three is followed by Indian trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni with 195, 190 and 175 sixes respectively.
Here is a unique list of batsmen with a minimum of 100 sixes who has taken less numbers of balls for scoring a six in ODIs.

Shahid Afridi leads the list with a balls per sixes ratio of 19.76 as he has scored his 342 sixes in 6758 balls. His compatriot Wasim Akram has taken 4208 balls to score 121 sixes. The list also includes Kiwi pair Brendon McCullum and Chris Cairns, Aussies Shane Watson and Andrew Symonds and Pakistan’s Abdul Razzaq.
Chris Gayle is the only batsman in the list to have faced over 10000 balls in ODIs. Indian batsman Suresh Raina and skipper MS Dhoni are at eighth and ninth spot with 51.11 balls and 51.83 balls per sixes respectively.
