Big Bash League Hits Jackpot As Tournament Sees Large Turnout And High TRP 1
Perth Scorchers defeated Sydney Sixers by 9 wickets to win the BBL 06.

The sixth edition of Big Bash League, which concluded on January 28 with Perth Scorchers winning their third title, drew maximum crowd and saw highest TRP in the history of the tournament, said Anthony Everard, the chief of Big Bash League.

“Once again, fans have well and truly spoken and we couldn’t be happier with how this year’s competition has progressed on all levels. The season has well and truly exceeded our expectations”.

This year’s Big Bash League (BBL) was a great success as we saw a large turnout in almost every game. 20 out of 35 games in the league were totally sold out with the maximum crowd coming in the new year game between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades at MCG, which saw a turnout of 71,162 spectators.
The TV ratings also broke few records as the average viewership per match of the season was up to 10,21,750.
Not just BBL, but women’s BBL also saw a rise in the turnout and TV viewership, especially in the new year game with 24,000 spectators coming in to witness the game.
The success of the Big Bash League has amused Cricket Australia and the players as well but Shane Watson seems a bit worried as according to him, now the biggest challenge will be to transit the love for BBL to Test cricket. He termed this thing as a challenging task.
In the latest news, it is also learnt that Cricket Australia is contemplating to expand the tournament a bit by organising eight more matches in the next season of the T20 league.
