WWE News: Kevin Owens Wants To Face Sami Zayn At Wrestlemania 1

Ever since their NXT days, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are considered as arch-rivals in the WWE. Upon coming to the main roster, they continued their fight during the brand extension last year. We thought that might be it for them but Owens has some other intentions in his mind.

Recently, while appearing in an interview with the USA Today’s ‘For the Win’ segment, KO named none but his former best friend, Sami Zayn as his Wrestlemania opponent. He stated it’s just a matter of time before they lock horns at the grandest stage of them all.

Both of them hail from Canada and grew up together as the childhood buddies. After they made up their mind to enter into the world of pro-wrestling, they toured the world together to attend different wrestling promotions together. Both of them earned a name for themselves in the promotions like Ring of Honor or NJPW.

Owens used to perform under the name of Kevin Steens whereas Sami was known as El Generico in the indie circuits. It was Owens who signed a WWE contract first and Sami followed later. If both of them can prove themselves as the money match performers in stages like Wrestlemania, then this might turn out to be a heck of a fight between them for the title.

He said AJ Styles has certain similarities as him while choosing the right career option at the right time.

He concluded by saying about the equation that he shares with his Canadian buddy, Chris Jericho. Following were his comments about the United States champion:

“We always got along, but I don’t know that we were that close. The more we appeared together on RAW, the closer we grew, and we’re really good friends now. I always had a lot of respect for him, not only because he’s one of the biggest WWE superstars of the last decade, but also because he’s Canadian and I’m Canadian. There’s an almost like an unspoken bond that just kind of happened naturally when you’re from the same place.”
