Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was the go to man for his team in the one-off Test against India as he was decent behind the wickets and scored a gritty century in the first innings.
But during the second innings, he fell to Ravichandran Ashwin while trying to be aggressive against him.
“At the end of the day, you have to score runs. If a bowler knows that if this batsman will just defend, then it becomes difficult. We lost wickets at the wrong time because we knew that the first few wickets were important. We wanted to lose as fewer wickets as possible.
“If you are doing two or three jobs maybe the board or management have trust in you. I need to deliver what I am doing, in all the three departments and if I didn’t do well then they can make the decision but at the moment I am doing well. Captaincy is not in my hands; it’s the board’s decision so they can analyse the whole thing,” Mushfiqur Rahim Said.
Looking at the game as a whole, Rahim was the standout player for Bangladesh and lacked support from other players. Though as a team, Bangladesh put in the every effort but still there were some glaring errors on the field like the missed stumping chance and run-outs on Day 1.
It was one more session that Bangladesh needed to survive in order to draw the game but it’s a learning curve for the team and surely they’ll hope not to repeat them again.
