Bengaluru Crowd Forces Virat Kohli To Bowl Ravindra Jadeja 1
Ravindra Jadeja is now the top positioned bowler in ICC latest rankings with his career best ratings of 899.

Virat Kohli’s captaincy, which seemed flawless a couple of weeks ago, has suddenly come under a bit of heat. The loss at Pune was heavy and the continuance of resilience from Australia has put Kohli’s character under a bit of test.

Obviously, a single loss after remaining unbeaten for 18 matches cannot damage his leadership qualities. However, Indian fans like to have their say. The social media has been witness to such opinions. But, what happened at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru has taken the whole ‘fan suggestion’ game to a whole new level.

The Australians have proven to be a tough nut to crack, it has been quite evident in the past couple of weeks. After a smooth win in the first Test, they made they continued to prove their mettle in Bengaluru as well. The contest has been a well-fought one thus far.

And, when a sports crazy Bengaluru crowd act as a spectator, the level of fan involvement gets higher and higher as the match keeps getting intense. So, therefore when Virat Kohli decided to keep Ravindra Jadeja out of the attack and bowl Ashwin and Ishant in tandem, the crowd felt the tactic was wrong. The masses felt that Jaddu should be in operation.

But, how to convey the message to the skipper?

The solution was rather simple. As it happened today, the crowd came together and cheered for Jadeja to be brought back to the bowling attack so loudly, that Kohli was forced to adhere to their loud requests and make the bowling change, a sudden one at the last minute to be precise.

Just before the start of the 97th over of the Australian innings on day two, the crowd instantly started chanting “We want Jaddu, we want Jaddu!” in unison.

The effect of the combined effort was that Ashwin who had reached his bowling mark at that time to bowl the 20th over of his long spell collected his cap back from the umpire and made way for Jadeja to bowl. Kohli called Jadeja from his fielding spot as the crowd rewarded him with a resounding applause.
