- Ajit Agarkar (India) – Bombay Duck
Though former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar had a role as a bowler in his team, but he was a very handy with his bat too as he had been used as a pinch hitter for Indian team specially in ODI cricket. Agarkar had slammed fastest half-century by an Indian in ODI cricket as he had scored 50 in just 21 balls against Zimbabwe. Apart from this, he had scored many runs in important times as he had hit a century in Test cricket.
Apart from good batting record, Agarkar had some poor batting records too specially in his early international career. Agarkar is jointly on top in the most consecutive ducks in Test cricket with 5 ducks (including 2 pairs) and all against Australia, adding with this he had two more consecutive ducks (or one pair) against Australia as he achieved seven consecutive ducks against Australia.
For this consecutive seven ducks against Australia, the Bombay (currently known as Mumbai) inhabitant Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar was went to famous with “Bombay Duck” nickname. Agarkar also had another nickname ‘007’ for the same reason.
