Having qualified for playoffs for the first time since 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore could not capitalize on the opportunity. Because of their disappointing performance with the bat, they lost the eliminator against SRH and are returning home without a trophy. The defeat has disappointed not only the players but also the fans, who were supporting them for India. AB de Villiers has apologized to the supporters for not living up to their expectations this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a promising start to the tournament winning seven games out of ten. They had got the perfect opener in the form of the youngster Devdutt Padikkal with Aaron Finch to support him. Virat Kohli had struggled in the first couple of matches but started hitting well after the first meeting against Rajasthan Royals. AB de Villiers also earned the new nickname ‘superhuman’ because of his rocket-fueling knocks. Fans began to have high hopes from them.

But their ship sank in the last four games, with setting poor totals, bowlers didn’t have enough target to defend. They lost four matches in a row before facing defeat in the eliminator. RCB skipper’s poor outing was also the main reason behind their downfall.

Taking to Twitter, RCB shared the last video of the dressing room where AB de Villiers sent a special message for their supporters.

“A memorable campaign came to a disappointing end, but the RCB players savour the final moments together in the dressing room before they fly out of Dubai.  PS: After about 80 consecutive days, this is our final 9 AM video for the #IPL,” RCB tweeted while sharing the video.

To all our RCB fans, thank you so much for the support. Wish you guys were here throughout the tournament, we could’ve done with a bit of support from you guys in the stadium but it wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully next time. Sorry about not going all the way. We gave it our best shot and we had a lot of fun. There’s a lot of positives which we will take on board moving forward. Thank you very for supporting us and always being behind us,” AB de Villiers said in the video uploaded on RCB’s Twitter handle.

Now, SRH and DC will fight for the finalist spot and to take on Mumbai Indians for deciding the winners of IPL 2020.
