It feels humiliating that when you get out on a duck, after fielding for a long period. The same incident happened with Jake Weatherald who is playing for South Australia in Australia’s domestic Sheffield Shield.

Victoria played for 150 overs or 900 balls against South Australia and declared their innings at 616 for 6. South Australia had to set themselves to score the big total.

South Australia opener Jake Weatherald, who fielded for a long time in Victoria’s first innings, had a responsibility to give a good start. Unfortunately, the player was out on the very first ball. Australia’s national pacer James Pattinson got the wicket of the left-hand batsman Weatherald. The batsman gave the catch to the gully where Glenn Maxwell was fielding. Weatherald would be very upset as he waited to bat after the long innings of Victoria.

The game more depends on the opener as they give a start to the team and the pace. However, South Australia surpassed the whopping first innings total of Victoria as South Australia scored 671/6.

In the game, South Australia’s batsmen who played against victoria was able to score half-century except for Weatherald, Darren Lehmann’s son Jake Lehmann (8) and Nick Winter (29*). Weatherald has played 36 first-class matches in which he has scored 2,157 runs.

Weatherald is not only the one to face the same situation in recent times. South African opener Aiden Markram is also not able to set himself in the field against India during the recently concluded Pune Test. He just faced two balls in the first innings of the Pune Test and was out for a duck. Also in the second innings of the Test match, he once again scored a duck after facing two balls of Ishant Sharam.
