The South African opener Aiden Markram has been ruled out of the third and final Test match against India at Ranchi. The stylish batsman has been ruled out due to an injury in his right wrist. Markram has had a forgettable tour of India as he was dismissed for a pair in the second Test match at Pune.
Furthermore, Markram could only 44 runs in the first Test match at Visakhapatnam. No replacement has been thus far named by the South African board. Markram has struggled to get going against Indian spinners and he hasn’t been able to deliver the goods.
Markram hasn’t been up to the mark.
On the other hand, Aiden Markram had impressed with his performances when India had toured South Africa in 2018. However, the flamboyant batsman failed to get going in the challenging Indian conditions. A lot was expected from the right-hander but he could not stand tall to the challenge of opening in Indian conditions.
Meanwhile, India has been dominated the series so far. The hosts had won the first Test match by a gargantuan margin of 203 runs and also continued their domination in the second Test match. Virat Kohli-led side won the second Test match by an innings and 137 runs. Thus, it has been one-way traffic in the series so far.
Consequently, India will look to continue their assault on the Proteas. On the other hand, the visitors will like to make a roaring comeback into the series. However, there is no doubt that the guests will need to play out of their skin to challenge the potent Indian side.
The third Test match will take place at Ranchi from October 19. Earlier, Keshav Maharaj was also ruled out of the third Test match with a shoulder injury.
