Steven Smith is currently in unstoppable batting form. In the ongoing Ashes 2019, he has outshined with his bat. The world cricket is not only praising him but also putting him on the highest position.
Due to his involvement in the sandpaper gate incident in March 2018, Smith missed the challenging professional cricket for next one year. After returning to the game, he took some time to return in his familiar nature.

Smith shined in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 but he wasn’t much consistent yet. Finally, after 16 months later, Smith made his Test comeback through the Ashes 2019. However, no one ever thought to observe this kind of return. In the four innings of Ashes 2019, Smith has scored 144, 142, 92 and the latest 211 runs. After playing just four innings in the Ashes 2019, Smith has scored 589 runs with an average of 147.25.

Steven Smith scored 211 runs in the first innings of Manchester Test
Currently, England and Australia are busy in the fourth Test of the Ashes 2019 at Old Trafford (Manchester). On Thursday (5th September), Australia started the day two of this Test match on their overnight score of 170/3. Steven Smith started the day on 60 runs and he was almost unstoppable on the second day. The right-handed batsman completed his 26th Test century in 160 balls.
Smith got huge luck when his dismissal was denied due to the left-arm spinner Jack Leach‘s front-foot no-ball delivery. When Smith was batting on 118 runs and facing Leach, he had an edge to the slip while Ben Stokes properly grabbed that. Though Smith was moving to the pavilion, he returned to the crease after knowing the no-ball incident.
It proved very costly for the England cricket team. Finally, Smith completed his third Test double century in 310 balls. After scoring 211 runs off 319 balls, Smith lost his wicket as the English Test captain Joe Root dismissed him. In that memorable innings, Smith smashed 24 fours and two sixes.

For a man who has endured the highest form of ridicule and shame from the public (yes his lack of better judgment) to show his strength in mental toughness and exceptional batting skills, certainly puts him up there as one of the best. He is the best I’ve seen. #Ashes #SteveSmith
