Bangaldesh and Ireland secures their berth for 2016 ICC Women’s World T20 (WWT20) after reaching in the final of the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier in Bangkok, Thailand on today.

The two groups winners were met against their opposite group runner-ups in the semi-final on today. Bangladesh (1st in Group A) beat Zimbabwe (2nd in Group B) and Ireland (1st in Group B) won against Scotland (2nd in Group A) in today’s semifinal.

After winning the toss, Zimbabwe decided to bowl first. They restricted to the Bangladeshi women on just 89 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Fargana Hoque scored highest runs (43) for Bangladesh team.

In reply, Zimbabwe tattered to chased down the low score and failed short from 31 runs of Bangladesh total. Only one Zimbabwean female batsman reached the double figure along with extras. Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rumana Ahmed grabbed 4 wickets and was selected for player of the match award.

In the other semi-final, Ireland sent Scotland to bat first, after winning the toss. Scotland fought hard against the Irish bowlers and managed just 77 runs in 20 overs after failing nine wickets. Only two female batsmen crossed the 10-runs mark for Scotland.

Ireland women chased down the small total with very comfortably, before the end of the 12th over in their innings with losing only wicket. Irish female medium-pacer LK O’Reilly was awarded the player of the match for her outstanding performance (4-0-16-3).

The two semi-finalist winner will meet against each other on 5th December in the final.

On the other hand, China and Papua New Guinea reached for the Shield final, which can be called also as fifth-place play-off of the tournament. Papua New Guinea beat Netherlands by 1 wicket while China beat Thailand by 5 runs in the Shield semi-final. The Shield final also will be held on 5th December. 

The 2016 ICC WWT20 is scheduled to be held in India along with the 2016 ICC World T-20 (Men).
