Bangladesh Sweat Over Tamim Iqbal Fitness Ahead Of India Tour 1

The Bangladesh team suffered a big injury scare as Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the National Cricket League match. The veteran batsman was ruled out due to a muscle strain. In fact, the opening batsman had played the opening phase of the tournament.

The left-hander was expected to play for the Chittagong division against Barisal Division at Fatullah Stadium in Narayanganj. However, the left-hander had to go for the scans as he felt some discomfort in the right side of his rib. Thus, Bangladesh is going to sweat over the fitness of their talisman batsman ahead of the pivotal tour of India.

This could be a massive blow for Bangladesh.

“He was feeling muscle strain on the right side of his rib and we decided to rest him as a precaution and sent him to BCB,” a Chittagong official confirmed to Cricbuzz.

“He already had this pain earlier and it probably resurfaced so we wanted him to have a scan and look into the gravity of the injury,” he further added. “It seems to be a grade one tear but you can come to know only after the scan is completed.”

The Tigers will play India in a three-match T20I series in November. After the T20I series, both teams will take on each other in the two-match Test series. This will be the maiden series for Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC Test championship.

The first T20I will take place on 3rd November in the capital of the country, New Delhi at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The second and third T20I will be respectively played on 7th and 10th November at Rajkot and Nagpur.

The first Test match will begin from November 14 at Indore whereas the second Test will take place at Kolkata from November 22.

Meanwhile, Tamim had recently taken a break after his poor form.
