Bangladesh Test and Revised T20I Squads Announced For India Tour
On Tuesday (29th October), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the revised T20I squad and full Test squad for the upcoming India tour.
Ahead of the India tour, Bangladesh have received a big blow as the all-rounder and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan has faced a suspension from ICC for not disclosing the full details of corrupt approaches to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). He has faced the two-year ban from all cricket, with one year of that suspended.
In the revised T20I squad, BCB has omitted Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Saifuddin, along with Shakib Al Hasan. Tamim has opted out due to the birth of his second child while Saifuddin has received a back injury. Abu Haider Rony, Mohammad Mithun and Taijul Islam have replaced the three unavailable Bangladesh cricketers in the T20I squad.
The BCB has selected Mahmudullah as the captain for the T20I series. He has led the Bangladesh national cricket team in five T20Is where Bangladesh have won only once and lost four matches.
Bangladesh will begin the India tour with the three-match T20I series that will run from 3rd to 10th November 2019.
Mominul Haque will lead the Bangladesh Test side
After the T20I series, India and Bangladesh will play the two-match Test series, including one day-night Test match. The Test series will run between 14th and 26th November 2019. Eden Gardens (Kolkata) will host the final Test of this series and it will be a day/night Test match.
The BCB has chosen Mominul Haque as the Test captain for this tour. It will be his first experience as a captain in the international career.
