The Executive Board Meeting of the International Cricket Council is scheduled on upcoming Wednesday in Dubai.
For the BCCI, Amitabh Chaudhary is expected to attend the meeting as BCCI representative. Amitabh Chaudhary will be offered a compromised formula over the revenue sharing model at the world body. Now the question comes that will Amitabh Chaudhary accept it or not?
Previously BCCI had decided to oppose the new idea because it will cut short the revenue of BCCI. BCCI had also threatened to opt out from the Champions Trophy 2017 as well.
Though later they decided not to take any such extreme step. According to the information from the meeting with COA, Amitabh Chaudhary got is that International Boards have agreed to increase the BCCI’s share and take a cut on their own.What is not known is the exact amount and different versions of it. A source said,
“Every boards want a compromise, they want a middle ground reached. The boards are ready to accept the reduction in their shares so that the BCCI share goes up”
Amitabh Chaudhary with a delegation comprising Rahul Johri, Ratnakar Shetty and MV Shridhar left for Dubai on Friday night. A source close to the members said ‘Why should we accept any compromise” so BCCI’s position is still doubtful.
This BCCI Panel wants a rollback on this 2017 model failing which they want to invoke the clause in the member’s participation agreement that allows them to withdraw from ICC events. Next ICC event in line is Champions Trophy in England. BCCI will give ICC time till June to defer their decision end if they don’t agree then the situation can get worse.
