BCCI wants Rahul Dravid as Indian senior team coach

Former Indian legendary batsman Rahul Dravid is in the leading the race to become a new coach for team India. BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) advisory committee, comprising of former Indian legends and Dravid’s national team-mates Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, sees Rahul Dravid as Indian national team coach.
Currently, Dravid is serving as India A and India U19 team coach for almost one year. Under his coaching, both teams performed very well and India U19 finished as runner-up in the ICC U19 World Cup 2016. Now BCCI wants to see him as senior national team coach.
Already BCCI advisory committee has approached Dravid to become Indian senior team coach. A source informed, “Rahul has said he will give it a thought.”
If Dravid agrees to take this role, he is likely to be given a long-term contract, which possibly extending till the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Earlier, former Australian batsman Michael Hussey had been contacted for this role which failed soon due to his non-interest. However, the BCCI is all set to continue with the other coaches’ services such as assistant coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar. Their contracts are likely to be extended soon.
