In the entertaining Bushfire Cricket Bash 2020, Cricket Australia has confirmed that they have raised over a staggering amount of $7.7 Million from Sunday’s charity game in Melbourne. Now, the fund raised will be given to the victims of the devastating bushfires which hit Australia. Well, talking about the game, it was looking like a dream to watch the legendary cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, to name a few playing for a team.
Ponting XI vs Gilchrist XI
The game was played between teams, captained by Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting.
Batting first, the Ponting XI amassed 104 runs in their 10 overs for the loss of five wickets. The West Indies legend Brian Lara was the top scorer in the team, striking 30 runs off 11 balls. His scores included three boundaries and a couple of maximums too.
In Reply, Gilchrist and Shane Watson gave a good start to the team. The duo set up the partnership of 49 runs for the opening wicket.
Watson notched 30 runs even as Gilchrist made 11. Yuvraj Singh, second Indian in the game, could not show much with the bat as he gave an easy to catch.
Andrew Symonds tried his level best with 29 runs off 13 balls, but the knock wasn’t quite enough to see the Gilchrist XI over the finishing line. And Pointing XI went on to register the victory in the enchanting Bushfire Cricket Bash by one run.
Sachin Tendulkar bats after over five years:
Former Indian cricketer Sachi Tendulkar, who was given the job of coach, was challenged by Australian women cricketer Ellyse Perry to face her for one over.
The master blaster accepted the challenge and the spectators saw the legend batting after over five-and-a-half years.
Perry bowled four deliveries at the former Indian batter after which she handed the ball to Anabelle Sutherland. Sachin played on the on-side apart from a trademark straight drive which reminded us of his old.
And also, the Junction Oval ground was echoing with words ‘Sachin-Sachin’.
