Chris Gayle Demonstrated That He Should Play Every Game Next Season: KXIP Owner

The towering power-hitter Chirs Gayle turned the table for Kings XI Punjab after his inclusion in the playing XI. He brought back luck to bring the franchise alive in the competition and almost took them close to the playoff race. Seeing the impact the Universe Boss manifested, KXIP co-owner Ness Wadia believes that Gayle should play the next season from the very first game.

Chris Gayle missed the first few matches because he was serving a quarantine period. He was then benched for a couple of other matches because the team had found a perfect opening combination in the form of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.

But KXIP struggled to convert the result in their favour, which led to the demand for Chris Gayle’s return. KXIP, however, further delayed his comeback stating the Windies was suffering from a stomach infection. Finally, he entered the field in the eight-match of the Punjab. The hard-hitter managed to make a huge impact, scoring 288 runs, including 3 fifties, in just 7 matches.

On Chirs Gayle not included at early in the setup, Ness Wadia said that the team management decision was best for the team. But he admitted that the Windies with his demonstration in the recently concluded season, he has shown that he should be in the team combination from the very start.

“The team management did what it thought was best for the team. It is important to back experienced players and Gayle has demonstrated that he should play every game next season,” said the co-owner to PTI.

The 41-year-old Chirs Gayle, whose retirement speculation started since the World Cup 2019, has defied all the age calculation to fit to play the game of cricket. He is still not ready to end his cricket career.
