Dale Steyn Was Just Horrible To Face – Michael Hussey
Former Australian talismanic batsman Michael Hussey believes Dale Steyn was just horrible to face during his playing days. Hussey stated that the South African pacer was the toughest bowler he faced in his career. Steyn dominated the red-ball version of the game like a boss and he was deadly with his bowling.
The Proteas fast bowler had great pace under his arsenal and had the skills to move the ball both ways. Dale Steyn is generally right on the money and it was a torture for the batsmen to face him during his heydays.
Steyn who recently retired from the Test format scalped 439 wickets in 93 Test matches at an average of 22.95. The gun fast bowler is South Africa’s leading wicket-taker but his career was troubled by a shoulder injury in the fag end of his career.
Dale Steyn has been lethal.
Steyn has 196 wickets and 61 wickets respectively in ODI and T20I format for the Rainbow Nation.
However, Steyn will continue to play in One Day International and T20I format for South Africa. On the other hand, Michael Hussey also had a fine career for Australia. The southpaw batsman scored 6235 runs in 79 Test matches at an average of 51.53. The left-hander also scored 5442 runs in 185 matches at an average of 48.16.
Michael Hussey said while talking to ESPN Cricinfo when he was asked one bowler who gave him the sleepless night, “Dale Steyn. He was just horrible to face. Good pace, good swing, got me out a few times. So, didn’t enjoy facing him at all”.
Michael Hussey also stated that the South African conditions were the toughest to bat in. Hussey is regarded as one of the most consistent batsmen of his eras and always played the game in the right spirit.
The left-hander was instrumental in the success of the Australian team and ticked the right boxes in his career.
