David Warner Aims To Lead SRH To IPL 2021 Final

David Warner will be aiming to lead SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to another final, as the new Indian Premier League, 2021 season 14 is all set to begin from April 9. SRH and KKR will play their first match against each other on 11th April at Chennai.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner took to Instagram to reveal his ambitions of reaching another Indian Premier League (IPL) final.

David Warner Can’t-Wait To Get Back To India To Play IPL 2021 And Wants His Franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad To Reach Another Final

Sharing a highlights montage video of his IPL career, David Warner also opened up about his excitement of getting back to India for the T20 franchise tournament.

Sharing a video made by a cricket fan, the Australian cricketer wrote, “Thanks for these highlights. It would be great to be able to make the finals again, but there is a lot of hard work beforehand to get there. I can’t wait to get back to India for the IPL 2021.”

Known for his funny social media posts, the Australian is a regular user of Instagram and has a huge fan base. One of the most destructive openers across formats, David Warner captained SRH to their maiden tournament win in 2016. He was the second-highest run-scorer for them in their title-winning effort with a monumental 848 runs at a strike rate of 151.42 averaging 60.57. He amassed 641 runs in IPL 2017, 692 runs in IPL 2019, and 548 runs in IPL 2020.

The Australian batsman captained SRH to their only IPL title in 2016. SRH defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs, with David Warner slamming 69 runs off 38 balls. The match also saw Chris Gayle (76) and Virat Kohli (54) put in a good effort, but they couldn’t prevent a defeat for RCB. SRH also reached the finals of IPL 2018 but lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets.

During IPL 2020 at the United Arab Emirates (UAE), SRH finished in the third position in the league table in a dramatic manner after seven wins and seven defeats. They lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Qualifier. David Warner finished at the third spot in the Orange Cap race in UAE, scoring 548 runs from 16 matches. He also registered four half-centuries.

Australia opener David Warner revealed that it will take six to nine months more to recover from the groin injury that he sustained in November. David Warner suffered the injury during the second ODI against India and missed the final ODI, the T20Is that followed, and the first two Tests. He scored 5, 13, 1, and 48 in his four innings before being named in the squad for the now-postponed tour of South Africa. He is set to captain SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League in the upcoming edition.
