England Equals With Australia In World Test Championship Points Table

England has equalled the points with Australia in 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship with their last win in Ashes 2019 at The Oval. England gained 56 points and equalled the Test series by 2-2.

India is on the top of the table with 120 points after winning the two-match Test series against the host side West Indies. India is so far the only team to gain the highest points from a Test series. New Zealand and Sri Lanka are also equal to 60 points as they both won one-one Test Match against each other.

ICC has allotted 120 points for every Test series. The 120 points are equally divided according to the number of matches in the Test Series. As Ashes the is five-match Test series so each winning team can earn 24 points(120/5).

This table shows how much marks are allotted to the team if they win or tie or draw in a Test match.

As England and Australia, both won two matches and gained 48 points and also one match was drawn so it added 8 points in both the teams.

Total nine teams are participating in this ICC World Test Championship and each team has to fight with six other teams. The member will fight against the team according to their bilateral agreements.

India has fought with the West Indies and is now ready to fight against South Africa in home ground. It will be the first campaign for South Africa after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Bangladesh and Pakistan are also the participants in this Championship but Afghanistan is not included in the Championship.

The top two teams at the end will fight each other in the final at Lord’s on June 2021. If the final match gets draw then both the team will be declared as Champion of World Test Championship.

The idea to start the World Test Championship was to create interest in Tests as it is a longer format. People now have the interest to watch limited-overs format game rather than spending time for long Series.
