Gautam Gambhir has agreed with Yuvraj Singh’s statement on lack of senior players in the current Indian team. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh on live chat with Rohit Sharma has said that the current Indian team has Rohit and Virat Kohli as the only senior players.
The explosive southpaw said that Rohit and Virat are the only major players who play all the three formats. So, they both are only two seniors to guide the upcoming youngsters where in comparison to when Yuvraj entered, the team had the likes of Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and Anil Kumble.
“I agree with Yuvraj”: Gautam Gambhir

During the Star Sports show, Gambhir has also consented with Yuvraj. He said that it’s vital for the team to have more senior players to guide them to the right path while he agreed the current team lacks in that one.
“I agree with Yuvraj that there is a dearth of role models in the Indian team currently, like in the 2000s, we had Dravid, Kumble, Laxman, Sourav, and Sachin to guide the team. It is important to have senior players around you who can help you when you’re going through a rough patch.
“Right now, I don’t think there are enough seniors in the Indian camp, who will set aside their self-interest to help youngsters,” Gautam Gambhir said while speaking in Star Sports’ show ‘Cricket Connected’

Earlier, Yuvraj has also pointed out that the upcoming players in the team do not respect the senior players because of emergence of social media. He also compared the culture of the current Indian team with the before one. In his eyes, the youngsters should learn and respect the seniors.
He had also said that IPL had changed the mindset of youngsters as they do not focus on playing the most extended format.
