Harbhajan Singh, the veteran Indian off-spinner who opted out before the start of IPL 2020 believes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will not be bothered by his or Suresh Raina’s absence as they have got a wealth of experience in the form of Shane Watson, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja.
Harbhajan Singh, however, admitted that he will miss playing for the mighty CSK in the 13th edition of IPL and wished CSK all the very best for the entire tournament. According to Harbhajan Singh, Chennai Super Kings, like most IPL teams, have enough depth to deal with his and Suresh Raina’s.
Harbhajan Singh Will Miss IPL But Wishes CSK Best Of Luck For IPL
Citing personal reasons, both Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina have decided to skip the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is set to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While Suresh Raina formed a very important part of their batting line-up, Harbhajan Singh not only contained runs by being economical in the middle overs but also accounted for early breakthroughs in the powerplays.
“Well, I am gonna miss IPL for sure. I have been part of IPL from year 1 and it has been an incredible journey for me. The circumstances were different this year so I have taken a seat back. I thought it’s important for me to be with the family and spend some time with them rather than being there in the park,” Harbhajan Singh said.
“I am gonna miss playing but at the same time wishing my team CSK all the very best for the tournament and I am sure they will do what they are known for,” Harbhajan Singh told India Today in an exclusive interview.
Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina are placed among the top three in the list of maximum wicket-takers and run-scorers respectively in IPL history. Suresh Raina was the first batsman to cross 5000 IPL runs and is only behind Virat Kohli in terms of run scored while Harbhajan Singh is on a par with Piyush Chawla with 150 wickets and is only behind Lasith Malinga-170 and Amit Mishra-157.
Harbhajan Singh Believes Any Team Can Win And CSK Have Got Experience To Cope The Dou’s Absence
Dwayne Bravo has 147 IPL wickets while Shane Watson has 92 and Ravindra Jadeja has 108 to his name. Shane Watson also has 3575 runs. Dwayne Bravo has 1483 and Ravindra Jadeja has 1927 runs and the trio will contribute equally with both bat and ball giving CSK hope to win IPL for the fourth time.
“I think anyone can win. This tournament is such and T20 is a format where you got to play the best cricket in your ability everyday. CSK is one of those sides which has a lot of experience. Yes, they don’t have Harbhajan Singh, they don’t have Suresh Raina, that’s not gonna bother them too much,” he stated.
“They have got a wealth of experience of Shane Watson, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja. Yes, I am gonna miss playing with CSK this year. I don’t know how much they will miss me. They will still go forward without me or Suresh or no matter whoever,” Harbhajan Singh added.
After months of uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, the much delayed season of the popular Indian Premier League will kick off in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday 19th September with a clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings who have won four and three IPL titles respectively.
