New Zealand vs India 2020: Harbhajan Singh Suggests a Tactical Change for Auckland ODI

India lost the first ODI match against New Zealand by four wickets. The reason for India’s defeat was the failure of the bowling department. Indian veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has advised some changes in the bowling order for the impending Auckland ODI.
New Zealand handed over India the challenging task to set up the target. However, Virat Kohli’s men were successful in building up a fighting target of 348 runs. It looked like Team India will secure a win once again with a mammoth total but that was not the case this time around.
New Zealand batter Ross Taylor(109*), Henry Nicholls (78) and stand-in captain Tom Latham(69) played mesmerizing knocks with their willow. They led New Zealand to their first win against the Men in Blue this year.
Harbhajan Singh Suggest A Strategic Change:
After India’s failure, Harbhajan opines on the weakness of the New Zealand team. He said that India needs to bring back Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal in the second ODI. According to him, Kiwi players can play fast bowlers quite easily.
Harbhajan believes that Kiwi faces difficulty to play spinners. Thus, in his opinion, Kedar Jadhav should be dropped and Chahal should be picked as a sixth bowling option.
“I would like to see both spinners playing together – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. This New Zealand team will play fast bowlers on any given day and they will take anyone on. But when it comes to playing spinners, it has always been a case for them. You can get those wickets in the middle overs. So I would like to see both the spinners play together. Maybe leave out Kedar Jadhav and play an extra spinner,” Harbhajan Singh said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, Jadhav played short but powerful innings against New Zealand. He scored 26 runs off 15 balls at the strike rate of 173.33.
Well, the two teams will play the second ODI match in Auckland on 8th February.
