CC World Cup 2015 was the 11th edition of the tournament and was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Australia came out as the victorious in the tournament in the world cup registering the first win in their soil.

In the grand finale against New Zealand, the Australian team led by Michael Clarke registered the victory by seven wickets. The Kiwis had given the low target of 183 runs to the strong Australian side. They were unsuccessful in defending their target as Michael Clarke and Steve Smith scored half-centuries to guide the team to lift the fifth World Cup title.

In the 15th match of World Cup 2015, West Indies great Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels went on gun blazing against Zimbabwe at Canberra. Zimbabwe was celebrating as they picked the opener Dwayne Smith for a duck but they didn’t know that Gayle would play merciless innings.

Gayle played a memorable knock as he amassed 215 runs in 147 balls where he struck ten fours and 16 vivacious sixes to thrash the opposition. Hamilton Masakadza picked the wicket of the explosive batsman but it was too late as he had done his job. Gayle stitched up 372 runs partnership with Marlon Samuels who scored 133 off 156 balls. This partnership became the highest in the World Cup 2015 and eventually, West Indies won the match by 73 runs.
