How Can India Women Team Qualify For Semi-Final Of World Cup?

India Women’s team kicked off the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 with a stunning win over England in the first game of the tournament opener. With teaching passing game, team India touched new highs and was looking the first team to qualify for the next stage had they defeated South Africa in their previous game but a defeat there has extended wait of India to reach the next stage. Though still, India are the favourites to get an entry in the next stage, still, they need to ensure at least a win to go through without depending much on other teams.

India is now scheduled to play its remaining game against Australia and New Zealand, out of which the former game mentioned looks to be a tough one. Though India will look to forget the defeat against South Africa soon so as to register a win in upcoming games and go in the next round with heads high.

Before India take on Australia on July 12, let’s have look at the permutations and combinations regarding how India can qualify for the next round of the tournament –

Scenario 1 – India defeat Australia and New Zealand

In this case, India will qualify for the next round as the top placed team or second placed team, which depends on the result of games which England will play. Should India register an emphatic win in their next two contests, India will qualify for the next round ranked at number one side in the group stage.

Scenario 2: Australia defeat India and India defeat New Zealand

In this case, India will qualify for the next round as they will have five wins in their account, and in this case, as well, team India will have a chance to finish either on top rank or number two, a thing which will totally depend upon the results of the other games.

Scenario 3: India lose to Australia and New Zealand

In this case, India will finish the tournament with eight point in the bag and four wins in eight contests. The qualification of the team will then depend upon results of the game which England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will play. Should India lose both their remaining contests, then they have to hope that South Africa also their last two, so as India can earn a qualification in the next round.
