Hanuma Vihari who yesterday scored a well made 93 in the second innings, said that he also wants to develop his bowling skills that will benefit the team as India shouldn’t need to see more for the fifth bowler for the team.

Vihari in the post-match press conference said “It is important that my off-spin keeps developing, not only for myself but for the team as I fit into the team just because of that combination. I’m trying to keep on improving and getting better at it. So, hopefully, I will get more overs and help the team in future.”

Vihari and Rahane gave India solidity after Captain Kohli got out for 51, they got 135 runs quick partnership which took Indian lead past 400.

Referring to it, he said “Rahane was helping me out with the way bowlers were bowling because he batted for a long time in the first innings as well. He was helping me out with what the wicket was playing like.”

He also added about the benefits he got while playing for India ‘A’ regularly, he said “I came here early with India A team so I had that experience of these conditions and that came handy for me. I know how the wicket would play and I was fortunate enough to get those runs for the team.”

Jasprit Bumrah was not happy with his performance in the first innings – Hanuma Vihari

Later, Jasprit Bumrah played a vital role in Indian team’s victory of 318 runs as he hammered the Windies middle order and took 4th Fifer in Test Cricket.

As he struggled in the first innings in getting wickets, Vihari said “Bumrah was not happy with his performance in the first innings himself and he thought he did not bowl up to his standards. He was quite fired up in the second innings. He is a champion bowler. We did not play Test in the last six months so he was struggling in the first innings to get his rhythm back.”

India will now play Windies in the second Test at Sabina Park in Kingston which is starting on August 30.
