England thrashed Afghanistan on Tuesday (18th June) in the match 24 of the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at Old Trafford (Manchester).

After winning the toss, the host side England scored 397/6 in 50 overs. Chasing down that mammoth target, Afghanistan managed to score 247/8 (50 overs). England won this match by a giant 150-run margin.

  • It is the third largest victory for England (by runs) in their Cricket World Cup history. Their top two records in this list are winning by 202 runs against India at Lord’s on 7th June 1975 and by 196 runs against East Africa at Birmingham on 14th June 1975.

i) Afghanistan managed to score 247/8 (50 overs) in the second innings.

  • It is the highest total for Afghanistan in Cricket World Cup history. Their previous record was 232 (49.4 overs) against Sri Lanka at Dunedin on 22nd February 2015.
