The novel COVID-19 or coronavirus has already affected cricket, and it is getting ready to affect in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. While the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is likely to be postponed, it will open up the window for the IPL 2020.

According to the FTP schedule, India will organise the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. As there is no men’s World Cup tournament in 2022, the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia can be shifted to 2022. Meanwhile, if the Cricket Australia (CA) wants to organise the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021, the ICC will have to face a big task due to the earlier planning of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in India.

IPL 2020 was initially scheduled between 29th March and 24th May 2020

While the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 is likely to be postponed, it can open a big opportunity to organise the IPL 2020 in this window. The IPL 2020 was initially scheduled between 29th March and 24th May 2020 but it has been postponed for an indefinite period due to the pandemic.

As India is still battling against coronavirus, the fate of the IPL 2020 is still doubtful. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still hopeful for the IPL 2020 as around INR 4000 crore is in stake. The postponement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 can open up the much-needed window for the IPL 2020 which many believe that India can successfully organise this cash-rich tournament in October-November.
