Australia’s talisman batsman Marnus Labuschagne has continued to take an upward swing in the ICC Test rankings. Labuschagne has vaulted by one spot in the latest update of the rankings to take the third place. The right-hander scored a fine knock of 215 runs in the first innings of the third Test match at Sydney against New Zealand. He also backed it with another fine knock of 59 runs in the second innings.
The right-hander scored 549 runs against the Kiwis in the three-match series. Furthermore, David Warner also made a jump of two positions after he scored 111 runs in the second innings of the Sydney Test. Warner now occupies the fifth place in the rankings. Kane Williamson, Cheteshwar Pujara and Babar Azam slipped by one position to take the fourth, sixth and seventh place respectively.
Stokes enters into top 10 batsmen list.
On the other hand, England skipper Joe Root also made a gain of one place as he is now claimed the eighth position in the rankings. Ben Stokes who was awarded the Man of the Match in the second match against South Africa has broken into the top 10 batsmen list.
Stokes scored 47 and 72 in both the innings of the Test match. The talisman also scalped three wickets in the second innings to help England draw level in the series, which helps him share the 27th place in the bowlers’ rankings with Moeen Ali.
On the other side, Mitchell Starc has made a jump of two positions to take fifth place. He finished with 15 wickets in the series that included four in Sydney.
Spinner Nathan Lyon’s 10-wicket haul has helped him advance five places to a joint-14 position. Moreover, James Anderson who took a five-wicket haul in the first innings took a leap of five places to perch at the seventh rank in the rankings table.
