Here’s India’s predicted playing XI:
Rohit Sharma:
The right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma has been one hell of a performer. The senior campaigner has slammed a 70-ball 57 in his previous game against Australia.
With the absence of his long-time batting partner Dhawan, Rohit has extra responsibility on his shoulders to lay a strong plinth for the Men in Blue.
Well, most of the times, Rohit has converted his starts, which subsequently sets him apart from the other batsmen.
KL Rahul:
After delivering at the No. 4 spot now, it’s a time for KL Rahul to return to the preferred position. Although, the talented Karnataka batsman has done his job judiciously, but the pressure would be on him to fill the void left by Dhawan.
Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli has been incredible with the bat apart from leading his team to perfection. He has a terrific record against Pakistan. Kohli, who’s playing his third World Cup would be keen to dominate Pakistan bowlers.
Kohli’s innings also holds a key for India at the top which has often given Pakistan a tough time with the bat, in particular.
Vijay Shankar:
The Tamil Nadu-based highly-talented cricketer Vijay Shankar is expected to make it to the crucial No. 4 spot against Pakistan.
The promising all-rounder Shankar would like want to contribute who is being seen as the three-dimensional player.
MS Dhoni:
When things tend to fall off, the team looks at MS Dhoni either for a suggestion or for an inspiring knock. Such has been Dhoni’s prominence at the highest level of cricket for India.
Having experience on his side, Dhoni’s ability to finish the games have always remained a highlight. Dhoni always serves as an inspiration for many.
Hardik Pandya:
Hardik Pandya could either make or break the situation, but, of late, he has proved himself as a batting all-rounder rather than being a bowling all-rounder.
The explosive hitter of the ball could play a sensible knock apart from taking slow-bowlers to the cleaners.
Kedar Jadhav:
Kedar Jadhav‘s inclusion is a must pick situation given to his unusual action. The all-rounder is known as a wicket-taking option. Jadhav has already done his job for the Men in Blue.
Apart from his bowling, Jadhav is capable of playing his game according to the circumstances.
Mohammad Shami:
Over a short time, Mohammad Shami has improved in the ODI cricket. Since his Down Under tour, Shami has left a significant impact with the ball in hand.
The right-arm pacer Shami is capable of picking wickets early on in a bid to put pressure on the opposition.
Kuldeep Yadav:
Kuldeep Yadav has improved leaps and bounds over the years since bowling alongside leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
Kuldeep has a bagful of tricks to deceive Pakistan batsmen who have had also struggled to keep wickets against the spin attack.
Yuzvendra Chahal:
The prominent bowler in the Indian set-up Yuzvendra Chahal has impressed one and all, and he has already sent a warning to the teams in the ongoing World Cup.
The Haryana-based Chahal will be eager to put breaks on Pakistan innings with his guile.
Jasprit Bumrah:
The death overs specialist Jasprit Bumrah has become a sensation who also brought batters to its knees. Bumrah, who also makes good use of slower-ones could stun batsmen with his sheer pace.
Bumrah, who spearhead the pace attack wouldn’t allow Pakistan batters to score runs freely.
