ICC WT20 2016: India vs Pakistan – India predicted XI

SANDIPAN GHOSH / 18 March 2016

After suffering a shocking defeat against New Zealand in their opening WT20 2016 game, Indian team is desperate to win their next match against Pakistan at Kolkata on Saturday night.

India-Pakistan match is always a big game in cricket. India has never lost against Pakistan in WT20; India have defeated Pakistan in all 4 WT20 encounters previously. India has won 6 T20Is out of 7 T20I meetings against Pakistan and lost only 1 T20I. On the other hand, India has never defeated Pakistan in the limited-over international cricket at Kolkata, though India defeated Pakistan once in the Test cricket at this venue.

India’s strong and in-form batting line-up collapsed during the match against New Zealand. Though Indian team doesn’t need to panic for that, they need to be more careful in that position. In the addition, Indian current batsmen have always struggled against the left-arm pacers.

Before the New Zealand match, India had won 7 consecutive T20I matches. So the confidence level should not fall down due to the opening game defeat. India needs to more serious and conscious in their upcoming matches.

India seems to be a balanced side for T20I, so we don’t expect many changes in their playing XI. The bowlers are in good form while the top-order batsmen are also in very impressive form in T20I (except the last game). So the Indian team should not be afraid about their opening game defeat because they can still smoothly run in the WT20 2016.

India’s predicted XI: MS Dhoni (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jusprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra.
