India A prodigy batsman Shubman Gill missed out on a well-deserved century on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test match against South Africa A. The right-hander was able to hit the ground running as he got off the blocks. Gill scored 12 fours and one six and scored his runs at a strike rate of 67.15. However, the right-hander could not reach the three-digit mark as he was dismissed by Lutho Sipamla.

Gill has been drafted into the national team’s squad for the three-match Test series against South Africa and would like to continue his good form going. On the other hand, Shubman Gill’s opening partner Abhimanyu Easwaran who has been in sublime form in the recent past could not get going as he was plumbed in front by South Africa A pacer Lungi Ngidi.
Shubman Gill has been in fine form.
Priyank Panchal also didn’t have a good day at work as he could only score six runs. However, Karun Nair and skipper Wriddhiman Saha ensured no further damage was done. Nair once again showed his class as he scored a fine knock of 78 runs from 167 balls with the help of 10 fours.
Wriddhiman Saha gave good support to the Karnataka batsman as the pair added 67 runs before the stumps on an opening day. India A finished with 233-3 in 74 overs after South Africa A captain Aiden Markram won the toss and decided to bowl first.
For the visitors, Lutho Sipamla, Lungi Ngidi, and Wiaan Mulder snared one wicket each. India A had clinched the five-match unofficial ODI series by 4-1 and the hosts had also won the first unofficial Test match by seven wickets.

On the other hand, the first T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned due to rain. The second T20I will be played at Mohali on 18 September between the two teams.
