India Vs Bangladesh 2019/20: Indian Test Squad – Selectors Maintain Original Test Squad Against South Africa; Shahbaz Nadeem Misses Out
On Thursday (24th October), the national selectors have chosen the Indian squad for the next home Test series against Bangladesh.
It will be the two-match Test series between the hosts India and the visitors Bangladesh, which will run between 14th and 26th November 2019. Holkar Stadium (Indore) will host the opening Test of the series from 14th November 2019. Later, they will play the final Test of this series at Eden Gardens (Kolkata) from 22nd November.
The Test series will be the part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (2019-21). It will be India’s third Test series under the Championship while Bangladesh will start their 2019-21 WTC campaign with this series. India are leading the points table of the 2019-21 WTC with 240 points. India have played five Tests (two series) in this Championship and won all those matches.
The selectors have named the same Test squad that recently faced the South African team at home. As Kuldeep Yadav has returned to the Test squad, his replacement for the third Test, Shahbaz Nadeem, has missed out the Test squad.
Nadeem made international debut during the third and final Test of the South Africa series at Ranchi. The 30-year-old left-arm spinner impressed with his bowling skills as he picked up a total of four wickets in the Ranchi Test.
Bangladesh have played only one Test in India
India-Bangladesh have played nine Tests till the date where India won seven times and the other two had the draw results. Their last Test match was at Bengaluru in February 2017, which was also the first Test match between India and Bangladesh in India. The hosts won that game by 208 runs.
Last time, India-Bangladesh played a more than one-match Test series in 2010, where India won the two-match away Test series by 2-0.
At present, India are the no.1-ranked Test team while Bangladesh are the ninth-ranked Test side.
Currently, Bangladesh are struggling in Test cricket as they have lost all the away Test matches since March 2017.
