With an eye on taking a step closer to a series-win, Team India will face host New Zealand in the second T20I of the series tomorrow, which takes at the same venue i.e. Eden Park, Auckland. The small dimensions saw batsmen of both the teams pile on the misery for the bowlers as India and New Zealand registered a score of above 200.

A win for India will mean New Zealand will have to win rest of the three T20Is while if the hosts win, the series will be equalled at 1-1. There is no clear favourite for the second T20I but India will have a psychological advantage over Kane Williamson and co. In the first T20I, Shreyas Iyer led Men in Blue to a chase of 204 with his unbeaten 58 off 29.

Conditions

It should be a run-fest at Eden Park, a venue where the boundaries are too small. Even a top edge can sometimes go for six here. The conditions will be ideal for batting and toss doesn’t matter at this venue. Still, both the teams would want to chase the target here.

Here is the likely playing XI of both the teams –

Navdeep Saini. Twitter.

Shardul Thakur’s batting got him a place in the playing XI ahead of Navdeep Saini but Team India is unlikely to keep Saini out of playing XI for the second game. Expect Thakur to make way for Saini, who can be effective on this short ground. Rest of the players should keep their place in the playing XI, which means no place for either of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.

Likely playing XI: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Shami

New Zealand:

They have two fast bowling all-rounders on the bench but expect an unchanged combination for the second T20I. There might be a change in the batting order as Tim Seifert came way too late to bat.

Likely playing XI: Colin Munro, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner, Blair Tickner, Tim Southee, Hamish Bennett, Ish Sodhi
