The Indian captain Virat Kohli is on the cusp of joining former legendary batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rahul Dravid. Kohli has scored 758 runs in nine Test matches at an average of 47.37 while playing against South Africa. Thus, the Indian skipper is 242 runs away from completing 1000 runs against the Proteas. If Kohli manages to score these many runs, he will become the fourth Indian batsmen to score 1000 runs against the Rainbow Nation.

Former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar leads the chart with 1741 runs in 25 Test matches (45 innings) at an average of 42.46. The Master Blaster scored seven centuries and five half-centuries against the Proteas.

Kohli will hold the key once again.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is next on the list as the combative batsman had scored 1306 runs in 15 Test matches at a fine average of 50.23. Sehwag had scored five centuries (which also included a triple ton) and two half-centuries.

Furthermore, former Indian captain Rahul Dravid scored 1252 runs in 22 Test matches at a paltry average of 33.83. The solid batsman scored two centuries and five fifties while playing against South Africa.
