India vs South Africa 2019: India To Announce Squad For South Africa Tests On September 12th

One of the most intriguing aspects for the Indian cricketing fanatics is all about the selection of the players for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. However, there isn’t much time for it, as BCCI set to announce their squad for the upcoming series on Thursday (September 12th).

The most interesting aspect is the selection of the opening batsman. Is it going to be a chance for the newbie? Or a  shift in place for Rohit Sharma from middle-order to opener?

Or, is it going to be another chance for KL Rahul to make a statement of his own. And also, what about the future of Mohammed Shami? There are quite a few questions, which would get the answer on Thursday.

Opener KL Rahul’s poor show with the bat could pave the way for Rohit Sharma’s return to the Indian Test set-up when the selectors meet on Thursday to decide the squad for the two-match series against South Africa next month.

The Indian vice-captain Rohit couldn’t make the cut in the playing XI against the West Indies. However, he is expected to be tried out as an opener after Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane sealed slot Nos 5 and 6 in the batting order respectively.

Priyank Panchal and Abhimanyu Easwaranhave been knocking on the doors of the selectors for more than two seasons now. While Panchal, the Gujarat captain, has the experience and mature head on his shoulders, Bengal’s Abhimanyu has been in sensational form for India A and in the Duleep Trophy.

India next plays South Africa at home in a three-match T20I series. It will be followed by three Tests. The regulars Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Ajinkya Rahane will certainly stay in the squad and in playing XI as well. There wouldn’t be many changes to the bowling department as well.
