VVS Laxman praised the bowling attack of Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar. Chahar picked two wickets in the recent T20I match against South Africa where India won the match by seven Wickets. Sundar didn’t pick a wicket but he made difficult for visiting batsmen to score runs.

South Africa set the target of 150 runs. Indian team with young bowlers halted South Africa to set a big target. Sundar bowled three overs and Chahar bowled four overs and picked 2 wickets. VVS Laxman in Times of India Column remarked Chahar performance as impeccable as he can bowl with both new and old ball. He said Sundar is capable of stopping batsman to score runs.

“Nothing should be taken away from Deepak Chahar and Washington Sunday,”

“Chahar was impeccable with his lengths with both old ball and new and used his variations excellently during his second spell, most notably the knuckleball which got rid of Bavuma. Sundar is not a big turner of the ball but he troubled the batsmen with the angles he created through the use of the crease, and with his height.”

Laxman complemented South African skipper Quinton de Kock‘s batting but he wanted David Miller to score runs for his team so the team would have set a big target.

“Quinton de Kock was his natural aggressive self despite the responsibility of the captaincy, but South Africa would have expected more from David Miller given his long association with Kings XI Punjab. Miller batting deep would have helped South Africa get close to 170, par for the surface.”

With Virat Kholi‘s outstanding performance, it was an easy task for India to chase down the target of 150 runs. Laxman appreciated the batting style of the skipper and his style of hitting the runs.

“The standout batsman was Virat Kohli. Once again, he saw through a chase effortlessly. His use of the feet against the quick bowlers was exemplary, as was his balance. He played some stunning off-side strokes,” Laxman said.

India is ready to face South Africa in the third T20I match in Bengaluru on Sunday (September 22). With the victory in 2nd T20I match, India is in lead with 1-0 in three-match T20I series.
