Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari is on the eye of everyone after scoring a century and 56 not out in 2nd Test match in Jamaica against West Indies. His decent record in first-class cricket has given him the place in the Indian team.

In his Test debut against England, he made a half-century. The right-hand batsman is also a part-time bowler. Hanuma Vihari has the highest score of unbeaten 302 runs in a First-Class match and has played 74 First-class and 72 List A games.

With his apt technique, understanding of the situation and selection of shots Vihari certainly a great future. The right-hand batsman is also a part-time bowler. He has a record of being the only domestic player and a non-regular off-break bowler to dismiss Chris Gayle for a golden duck.

And now, Hanuma Vihari has also joined the list of Indian players who scored a century and a half-century while batting at No. 6 or lower, in the same Test outside Asia. With his 111 runs and 56 not out in the second Test, Vihari has secured a place in the list alongside the legends.

Vihari will join the legends like Sachin Tendulkar, MAK Pataudi, ML Jaisimha and Polly Umrigar in the list.

1) Polly Umrigar 56 & 172* against West Indies at Port-of-Spain (1962).

2) MAK Pataudi 64 & 148 against England at Leeds (1967).

3) ML Jaisimha 74 & 101 against Australia at Brisbane (1968)

4) Sachin Tendulkar 68 & 119* against England at Manchester (1990)

5) Hanuma Vihari 111 & 53* against West Indies at Jamaica (2019)

In the first Test match, Hanuma Vihari missed his century by seven runs. However, he was aware of the situation in the second Test and didn’t rush to reach the landmark of maiden Test ton.

Vihari joined Andhra in 2016 after ending his ties with Hyderabad. The 25-year-old cricketer joined IPL in 2013 when he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Currently, he features for Delhi Capitals and will hope to leave a mark in the T20I as well.
