India’s Women Team Pacer Jhulan Goswami Regains No.1 Spot in ODIs

India Women’s Cricket Team fast bowler Jhulan Goswami has regained the No.1 spot in the latest ODI bowling rankings for women on Monday (March 4). Since February 2017, the right-arm pacer Jhulan has reclaimed the top spot for the first time with her remarkable show in the recently-held three-match One-day International series against England women led by Heather Knight.
However, the Nadia, Bengal-born Jhulan has played a massive role for India’s women cricket by rising against the tide. Goswami has eked out oppositions wickets at the will by intimidating the English opponents.
Moreover, the 36-year-old Jhulan has leapfrogged Australian Megan Schutt and Pakistan’s all-rounder Sana Mir to sit on the top of the bowling ladder.
While bowling her heart out, Jhulan clinched eight wickets. With India securing the ODI series 2-1, Jhulan bagged eight wickets across three games. In the recently-held series, the best figures came in the second ODI on 25th of February when she claimed four wickets while conceding 30 runs in Mumbai.
Well, with this promising show, Jhulan leaped the ladder to claim 730 points. Australia’s Jess Jonassen holds the second spot with 723 points. Jess jumped to places to earn her spot.
Furthermore, Sana has 718 points to her name, whereas, Megan has 690 points.
Also, India’s Shikha Pandey has claimed fifth spot 688 points and two away to sit at par with Megan. Fast bowler Shikha has jumped 12 spots to break into the first five bowlers for women’s cricket in ODI cricket.
Also, former Australian cricketer Cathryn Fitzpatrick is second on the list with 180 wickets in 109 ODIs.
Also, Jhulan has 218 scalps to her name in 177 ODIs. While helping India to scale the summit in the ongoing cricket championship, Goswami also held the record of most wickets in the 50-over format for women’s cricket.

On the other side, in the batting rankings for ODIs in women cricket, exciting prospect Smriti Mandhana tops the chart with 797 ranking points.
Interestingly, Smriti has recorded her career-best points while scoring 837 in the ODI championship. Also, Australia’s Ellyse Perry is second on the list with 756 points with White Ferns’ Amy Satterthwaite bagging 755 points to her name.
Besides, India’s veteran Mithali Raj (713) is fourth on the list with England’s Natalie Sciver settling for the fifth spot with 695 rating points.
